Wordsmith vs. Legora
Legora has carved out its niche serving corporate law firms, and they do it well. But Wordsmith serves a different customer: the in-house legal team. Our platform, integrations, and entire product roadmap are purpose-built to help in-house counsel move faster and drive efficiency across the business. Law firms and in-house teams have fundamentally different needs. We built Wordsmith for the latter.

Wordsmith vs. Legora
The problems we solve
Legora have a strong customer base of enterprise law firms. With a direct focus on the complex needs of these firms. This focus drives their product design, championing research, drafting for firms that already have hundreds of templates and high-level bulk reviews.
Wordsmith has been purpose-built to remove the friction that in-house legal teams feel day-to-day. In pursuit of that our team has built a suite of tools that allow the entire business to be enabled by legal in seconds. From in-depth reviews of contracts to custom AI agents, tracked changes for redlines to intelligent drafting from scratch, Wordsmith allows everyone in the business to benefit from Legal expertise through Word, Slack, web, and email.

Templates vs Blueprints
Legora's Word add-in can fill out pre-made templates. It's hugely useful if you're a large law firm with hundreds of templates already made. But what if you're in HR and you need a Settlement Agreement in a hurry. Rather than copy across details and decide on clauses that you'll have to check with legal (when they have time!), you can run a pre-made Blueprint to draft the agreement based on your playbooks, situational context, and Wordsmith's knowledge of the law.
According to Legora, their templates get you "90% of the way there", but that's if you're already starting at 50%. Wordsmith's Blueprints get you from 0–90% in minutes, from wherever you work.

Understanding the landscape
Lawyers spend a lot of time in Microsoft Word. Reading, drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating — a lot of the heavy-lifting is done in Word. That's what Legora means when they say they "Meet lawyers where they are." Both Legora and Wordsmith have built capable Word Add-Ins that can run core legal tasks from redlines to translation. For the in-house legal landscape however, Wordsmith understands that there's more on the map than just Word.

Microsoft Word
Wordsmith approached our Word add-in from a practical standpoint — asking the question "When different teams work in Word, what do they need from legal?" rather than just viewing it from a legal standpoint. That's why we've built a tool that allows line-by-line redlining and contract review that in-house teams can check anytime, from Word or from the Web.
Zapier Connect
Connect Wordsmith to 6,000+ apps. Your tech stack is unique. With our Zapier integration, you can connect Wordsmith to Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Notion, Airtable, and thousands of other tools. Build automated workflows that route contracts for review, trigger approvals, or log completed tasks — without writing a single line of code.

Slack
Run legal operations where your teams already communicate. Sales has a contract question at 4pm on a Friday. With Wordsmith in Slack, they can get an instant answer without filing a ticket or waiting until Monday. Run contract reviews, ask policy questions, and create custom bots that sense-check work in real time. Legal stays in control with built-in approval flows — your team just moves faster.

Turn your inbox into a legal command centre. Negotiations live in email. Context gets buried in month-long threads. With Wordsmith, you can forward any email directly to the AI to draft a DPIA, summarise a negotiation history, or answer a sales question. No more copy-pasting into separate tools. The context stays intact, and you get answers in seconds.
Conclusion — Built by lawyers for lawyers
Legora has built a powerful platform for the law firm environment, but Wordsmith is built by in-house counsel, for in-house counsel. Our team's deep legal background means we aren't just building software — we're building the exact tools we needed when we were in your shoes.
From mastering the nuances of complex drafting to streamlining how an entire business collaborates with legal, Wordsmith is moving legal tech beyond the law firm office. We are building for the modern workplace, where legal is a competitive advantage.
