Introducing Wordsmith Intake: Legal intake that starts the work

AI changes what intake can do. A request can now be understood, turned into structured work and acted on as soon as it arrives. Legal can decide what gets captured, where it goes and what can start automatically.

We built Wordsmith Intake around a simple idea: Intake should start the work.

Start where the request happens

Legal work arrives through systems the business already uses. Wordsmith captures those requests without asking employees to learn a new portal. The original message, files and context come with them.

Then Legal’s rules take over. Define in plain language what should become a tractable ticket, who should own it and when/if? an agent can start automatically. Wordsmith applies those rules every time a request arrives.

Turn the request into action

This is where intake gets more interesting. Take a contract request. An agreement arrives in Slack. Wordsmith creates the tractable ticket with the conversation and document attached, then routes it to the Commercial Agent.

The agent can review the agreement against Legal’s playbook, identify issues and prepare the next step. If something requires judgement, the right lawyer is brought in with the context gathered and the groundwork already done. The lawyer starts further into the problem. That is the shift: the request itself can start the legal work.

Keep it moving through resolution

The request, documents, agent work, lawyer decisions and final response stay connected in one tractable ticket. When the work is done, the answer can return to the requester in the conversation where it started.
