You can install the add-in from the Microsoft AppSource marketplace. Does it work on Mac and Windows? Yes. The add-in is supported across modern versions of Microsoft Word on both platforms. Do I need a Wordsmith AI account to use it? Yes. You’ll need an active Wordsmith AI account with the Playbooks or Document Review module enabled. Can I run Playbooks inside Word? Yes. You can run any saved Playbook on your open document. Wordsmith AI will apply rules, generate redlines, and show fallback options—all inside the Word UI. Can I ask questions about a clause? Yes. Just highlight a clause, open the sidebar, and ask. You’ll get contextual answers instantly. Can I draft redlines or fallback clauses? Yes. Wordsmith AI can draft suggestions directly inside your document, using the context of your Playbook and contract. Are redlines inserted as tracked changes? Yes. Wordsmith AI respects Word’s native redlining system—so everything is fully traceable and editable. Can I use the add-in with .doc files? No. The Wordsmith AI add-in only works with .docx files. Older .doc files don’t support modern Word add-ins. To convert a .doc file: 1. Open it in Word 2. Click File → Save As 3. Select Word Document (.docx) as the format 4. Save and reopen the file. Please note: formatting or styling may change slightly during conversion—especially for older templates or documents with complex layouts. To avoid this, we recommend saving all working contracts and templates as .docx. Is my data secure when using the add-in? Yes. Wordsmith AI is SOC 2 Type II certified.
