**We’ve Raised $25M to Build the Future of In-House Legal**

Today, I’m proud to share that Wordsmith has raised a $25 million Series A, led by Index Ventures. This marks a major step forward in our mission: turning lawyers into legal engineers.

I started Wordsmith because I was tired of how slow and repetitive legal work felt. I trained as a lawyer, then retrained as an engineer to fix it. Wordsmith is the company I always wished existed—one that helps legal scale its thinking across the business, not just serve it.

#### **The Problem**

To legal, the work makes sense. To everyone else? It often doesn’t.

Deals stall. Procurement waits. HR repeats the same questions. Legal becomes the bottleneck. And that bottleneck slows everything down.

This isn’t about resourcing. It’s about architecture. Legal is still operating like a service desk in a world that demands scale.

#### **The Shift**

Wordsmith changes that. Legal teams use our platform to build and deploy intelligent agents—tools that review contracts, check policies, answer questions, and help drive decisions. These agents show up directly in the business’s workflow: Slack, email, Google Docs, Word.
