For most legal teams, every problem starts from zero.

You open your laptop, and there it is again: the markup that needs converting into special conditions, the cross-references that have to be checked one by one, the contract that should be pressure-tested the way the other side would. You know the work. You've done versions of it a hundred times. So you settle in and build the approach again, from the beginning, alone.

But someone, somewhere, has already solved the exact thing you're staring at this morning. A lawyer at another company hit the same wall, figured out the fix, and refined it until it worked. You'd just never know it, their work lives on their machine, in their workflow, invisible to you. The knowledge doesn't travel, so you start over.

Community Skills end that.

### **What Wordsmith Community Skills are**

Today we're opening up Wordsmith Community Skills. Community Skills are a shared library of legal Skills built by practicing legal teams, for you to use and customize as your own.

Forward-thinking legal teams have been building Wordsmith Agents and Skills to handle their most repetitive work: the mechanical conversions, the checks that eat an afternoon, the reviews that follow the same pattern every time. Now, instead of keeping those wins to themselves, they're sharing them. Each Skill started as one person's answer to a recurring frustration, built by practitioners at The Financial Times, GWI, Awardco, and Welltech who saw a real problem in their own day and built the fix. The first wave is live now:

- Definition & Cross-reference Checker — _Joe Forbes, FT._ Catches broken cross-references and undefined or misused defined terms across a contract, in one pass instead of one clause at a time.
- T&Cs Mark-up to Special Conditions — _Katy Hood, GWI._ Turns your markup on a set of terms and conditions into clean special conditions, automatically.
- Opposing Counsel · Red Team — _Andrew Wojciechowski, Awardco._ Stress-tests a contract the way the other side would, surfacing the arguments and weak points before they do.
- Legal Team Operations — _Coralie Zaza, Welltech._ Runs the recurring operational tasks that keep a legal team moving.

### **Why this changes how legal teams work**

The pattern is always the same: a real problem in a real workflow, solved once and then reused. That's what AI is good at, not replacing judgment, but taking the repeatable work off your plate so your time goes where judgment matters.

Community Skills make that work portable. Take a vetted Skill someone else built, see exactly how an experienced practitioner approached the problem, bring it into your own account, and adapt it to your documents, your clause library, your house style. Their thinking becomes your starting point. That's the shared learning we're after: not one team getting marginally better in isolation, but practitioners learning from how their peers solved real problems, and moving faster because they're not staring at a blank page.

### **Built through the Legal Engineering Project**

This is what we've been building toward with the Legal Engineering Project, our community of practitioners treating legal work as something you can systematize, build for, and learn from together. The Skills live today were built by members who saw a problem, built the fix, and put it in front of their peers. Progress shared, not hoarded.

If you've built something your team relies on, put it in the hands of other practitioners. Join the Legal Engineering Project to submit a Skill, or reach out to your account manager and we'll help you get it in.
